Michael Day

I served for thirteen years in an infantry battalion with the Yorkshire Regiment, with Active Service Tours in Kosovo, Iraq, and Northern Ireland. In 2009 I was injured in Afghanistan by stepping on an IED and suffered significant injuries.  Needless to say I have struggled since that date not only with my physical injuries but with adjustment to civilian life but also the loss of purpose.  I wanted to be a career soldier and serve my 22 year term.  Sadly this was not possible due to the extent of my injuries. In 2016 I met the management team at both Step Forward Homes and their foundation.  I can honestly say that working with them is as close to the comradeship I felt during my military career.  My sense of purpose is returning and I am now proud to be an ambassador for them. I am looking forward to working closely with them and helping other military veterans.
